It is estimated that the hospitality and transportation sectors are responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The consequences are devastating: global warming and the increase of catastrophic climate events such as droughts, fires, hurricanes.

In addition, tourism and tourists have inevitably contributed to increased pollution, waste production, more traffic jams and consequent environmental destruction.

Sustainability is not just a trend. It is a choice, a decision, a change. The tourism sector, especially the hospitality sector, has the potential to lead this shift towards a more sustainable way of life, creating trends and adopting new behaviors.

At Tróia Design Hotel we assume our responsibility. Acting in favour of the environment is not a project, it is a reality. Our new reality.

• We want to continue to provide unique moments to our guests, through a more conscious experience that integrates sustainable and environmental standards throughout their stay;
• We want to decrease the use of plastic, use more recyclable materials, buy cleaning products with less environmental impact;
• We want the dishes in our restaurants to privilege local products in order to support the region's agriculture and industry, to decrease imports and the resulting carbon footprint;
• We want to ensure a new policy of reducing water use and optimizing energy.

Tróis Design Hotel has received the certificate from Biosphere Sustainable for having successfully demonstrated, the fulfillment of the actions aligned with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
